As a working Mom, I pretty much wear a dress to work each day of the week. My wardrobe needs to have a lot of dresses so that I don’t re-wear the same dress too often, which means I am always looking for discounts on plus size dresses. I buy my dresses from various online stores, but I have a favorite store where I buy 70% of my dresses from called Kiyonna. Kiyonna sells most articles of plus size clothing, but I have found their dresses to be both affordable and stylish. They have what I think is a nice selection of plus size dresses in sizes 0X to 5X at affordable prices. I ususally wait until they have a coupon and then buy one or two dresses at a time. I added the dress below to my wardrobe recently. It’s a great fitting dress that looks as good on as it does in the picture. If you have a favorite store where you buy plus size dresses, please share it by leaving a comment.

The various media outlets have a bad habit of portraying women as these stick-thin, almost anorexic perfect looking people that portray the classic Barbie doll look. Real women do not look like that. Real women are not Barbie dolls. Whether it’s air-brushing magazine photos or adjusting camera angles, women do not look like what’s portrayed on television or magazines. A plus size woman is nothing more than an average size woman! And most women in the US are average size. I was reading an article recently that plus size or average size women have the following measurements:
If you haven’t noticed, Halloween is going to be here in less than 3 weeks. Have you picked out a Halloween costume? If not, maybe it’s because it’s not as easy to find a plus size costume for Halloween as it is to find a “regular” size costume. Or maybe your not going to dressup for Halloween? Why not, Halloween is a fun time to dressup with the kids. Last year I took the kids tricker treating dressed as a princess. The kids loved it. My husband thought I was so cute.
Now that the summer is officially over, it’s a great time to pickup a great deal on a plus size swimsuit. I happen to be looking for discounts on a plus size swimsuit and hit the jackpot as swimsuitsforall.com! They have a Vixen Two Piece Ruffled Bikini Swimsuit on sale for just $2.99. That is a savings of 67%, which I love. It’s available in size 13 and comes in 3 colors (aqua, black, orange). I also going to find a discount on a cover-up to go with the swimsuit. I will let you know what I find later. Meanwhile, here is a short description of the swimsuit:
Based on my experience and the input I have received from my plus size friends, you will spend far less on plus size clothing if you stick to shopping at clothing stores that exclusively cater to plus size women. Regular clothing stores usually have a plus size clothing section with limited selection. They don’t typically discount those items because they consider them to be specialty items.
As a plus size woman, I absolutely love shopping at Cato. They have a great selection of plus size women’s clothing. Even though I don’t like shopping for clothes, I don’t mind going to Cato’s to pickup a new skirt or shirt. Much to my husband’s dismay, I came across this store a few months ago. They have some really attractive clothes in women’s plus sizes at very reasonable prices. Now that I think about it, I probably shop there about once per week.
I am sure many of you sometimes feel the way I do when you go shopping for clothing at department stores. In the past, I would venture into my local mall and go into a typical clothing store looking for a new outfit. Some stuff didn’t even look good on the hanger. It felt like the major clothing chains either had no clue on what a real woman size is or the clothing they offered didn’t even look good on the hanger.
